Financial Policy – Donations
At this time, I’m able to work while still dedicating time to the WTEOF podcast, so I don’t take a salary from any funds collected through the podcast. For now, I plan to continue this approach for as long as I’m able.
At least until I break even on the expenses incurred and involved in creating and running the WTEOF podcast, I plan to provide an annual financial disclosure on the website.
All funds received by WTEOF, whether from fan donations or channel partnerships, are considered donations. These donations may be used, including but not limited to, to support travel, hardware, software, editors, and other channel or studio related expenses, as well as donations supporting other channels or causes.
I am committed to keeping WTEOF content free and never behind a paywall. The words of Christ, His Gospel, His teachings, and all they encompass should be freely available to all.
I struggle with the idea of “peddling the Gospel” in exchange for profit. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not a commodity for sale and that is the reason WTEOF content will be free to all. With that said, I imagine we can all agree, including you, that content creation takes time and that not all of us are as well funded as Elon Musk. I wouldn’t do this podcast if access to what I have to share came with a price tag, especially since money can sometimes influence and compromise the motives and intentions of religious content creators. I’m not opposed to religious content creators earning a salary from funds donated by supporters or provided by partners who want to help keep their content going. What I do find unethical, however, is letting money drive the content itself. In other words, I am comfortable being compensated for my time, work, effort, and skills, but not for the content I create and share.
Navigating this topic is not easy, and I know I still have much to learn. That said, I want to publicly share the principles guiding my decisions. My hope is to provide trust, accountability, and transparency for anyone donating to the channel or wondering how funds are handled at WTEOF.
